Thames Valley Police Officer Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run as Police Appeal for Public’s Help
PC Christopher Miller left fighting for his life after a white BMW failed to stop following a late-night collision in Buckinghamshire
A Thames Valley Police officer is in a critical condition after being struck by a car that fled the scene, prompting a major police investigation and an urgent public appeal.
PC Christopher Miller, a dedicated member of the Roads Policing Unit, was seriously injured late on Thursday night while on duty in Stoke Poges. The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm on the B416 Bells Hill. A white BMW collided with the officer and then left the scene without stopping.
PC Miller sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital, where he is being cared for in critical condition. His family, as well as his closest colleagues, are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Detective Superintendent Will Crowther, who is leading the investigation, has made a direct appeal to the public for information.
“I believe the BMW will have sustained front-end damage as a result of the collision,” he said. “If you saw this vehicle between 8pm and 1am, either before or after the incident, or have any footage from dash-cams, doorbells or CCTV that might help us piece together what happened, please get in touch. Your information could be vital.”
Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs paid tribute to PC Miller, describing him as a dedicated public servant.
“Police officers face danger every day. Christopher was simply doing his job—protecting the public. The whole of Thames Valley Police has been affected by this, and we all stand with Christopher and his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We’re immensely grateful for the support we’ve received from the community in Slough and beyond.”
The force’s Major Crime Department is continuing to investigate, and arrests have already been made. Two men from Slough, aged 28 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. A third man, aged 43, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, but has since been released on bail.
On Saturday, police arrested a fourth individual, a 37-year-old woman from Slough, on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. She remains in custody, as do the other two men following the granting of a further detention warrant.
