WATCH | The Annoying Rise of 'Auditors' – And How Emergency Workers Can Beat Them at Their Own Game
How Emergency Workers Can Outsmart Social Media Agitators Without Giving Them the Viral Drama They Crave
If you've ever spent too much time on social media, you’ve probably come across them—self-proclaimed ‘auditors’ who roam the streets, armed with cameras and an insatiable need to provoke. Their goal? To bait emergency workers into reactions that they can spin into viral content for their channels. It's a frustratingly common sight, and this week, another video has surfaced proving just how tedious these interactions have become.
In the latest clip, a man with a GoPro strapped to his chest approaches a female British Transport Police PCSO and starts taking pictures of her. When challenged, he deliberately plays dumb, responding with a sarcastic ‘Sorry? Sorry?’ while snapping another photo, shoving the camera right in her face with the flash turned on.
His antics continue as he bizarrely counts crime scene markers, clearly hoping to goad the officer into an escalating exchange. The PCSO remains professional, repeatedly asking why he’s taking pictures. Of course, the ‘auditor’ gives the typical non-answer: ‘No, sorry, it’s private.’ Within a couple of minutes, a BTP police officer arrives, calmly assesses the situation, and decides—quite rightly—that the best response is simply to ignore him.
No viral meltdown, no scandalous confrontation—just a semi-viral moment, likely because the PCSO initially reacted to the auditor’s bait before her colleague wisely advised her to ignore him and move on.
That’s exactly how it should be. These people are only after one thing: content. And if you don’t give it to them, they’re left with nothing but a boring clip of them standing around looking like idiots. But there’s more to this than just ignoring them. In the full breakdown of the video (available exclusively for our premium subscribers and also included below), we’ll explore a genius way to make sure their footage is not only pointless but also completely unusable!
