These so-called accountability activists prowl around police stations, crime scenes and other incidents with their phones in hand, hoping to provoke a reaction that they can monetise. Their goal? To get a clip of an emergency worker “biting”—snapping back in frustration, losing their patience, or reacting in a way that can be spun into a narrative of heavy-handedness.

But every now and then, an emergency worker, in this case, a police officer, flips the script entirely. And that’s exactly what happened when one police dog handler recently turned the tables on an auditor, leaving him completely disarmed—not with aggression, but with pure, unshakable positivity.

Auditor, Meet Your Match

The video (see below) starts as they all do: an auditor approaching a police officer, GoPro rolling, voice steady, setting the stage for a confrontation.

Only this time, the officer wasn’t playing along.

“How are you? You’re from the YouTube video, aren’t you? I know your voice!”

And just like that, the power dynamic flipped. The auditor, who likely came prepared to be the one controlling the encounter, was suddenly on the back foot. He had been expecting resistance. Instead, he was met with someone who seemed 'happy' to see him.

With a few simple words, the police dog handler managed to dismantle the auditor’s entire strategy.

Then, the officer delivered the ultimate checkmate.

“Do you want to have a look at the dogs?”

Boom. Now the conversation wasn’t about police accountability, authority, or rights—it was about dogs. And who doesn’t love police dogs?

“Of course.”

With that simple answer, the officer took complete control of the encounter. He knew exactly what he was doing. The auditor was no longer on the offensive, looking for a reaction—he was now just another interested member of the public, asking about the highly trained canines that help keep people safe.

The officer then gave an impromptu masterclass on the different roles of police dogs, explaining how they track suspects, locate discarded evidence, and even help find missing people.

“If somebody runs off and they don’t stop after being challenged, the dog can be sent to bite somebody and detain them. And the dog will hold onto that person until I take the dog off.”

As I’ve written before, self-proclaimed auditors aren’t really that interested in real accountability—they’re interested in monetisation. Their entire business model revolves around provoking officers into giving them dramatic footage they can use for YouTube revenue. The more clicks, the more money.

In many cases, these auditors see their so-called “work” as a form of revenge against the police for past arrests or encounters. In their eyes, it’s never their own actions that are to blame—it’s always the fault of the officer who held them accountable.

That’s why encounters like this are so important. By staying cool, calm, and collected—and even using a bit of strategic flattery—officers can completely neutralise their tactics.

And if you really want to ruin an auditor’s day? Use the trick I’ve covered before: get a colleague to call your phone while your ringtone is set to a commercially licensed track. Since social media's copyright system automatically detects copyrighted music, the auditor won’t be able to monetise the video. A simple phone call, and suddenly, their footage is worthless.
