Why We Created ESN Report
ESN Report was born out of a shared frustration—a frustration with the relentless bias against emergency services and first responders often seen in some sections of the mainstream media and a deafening silence where advocacy should exist.
Our team, comprised entirely of former emergency services personnel and armed forces veterans, grew tired of watching the hardworking men and women on the front lines —those who risk their lives daily to protect and serve —be misrepresented, overlooked, and unsupported. Senior management rarely speaks up for them, and the public only hears part of the story. We knew something had to change. Emergency Workers deserve a voice that understands what it is actually like to wear the uniform.
That’s why we launched this Substack.
Initially, we published stories on our website, but the minimal ad revenue barely covered basic operating costs, let alone sustained the platform. Substack became the solution, putting the power directly in the hands of our readers. Thanks to the incredible support of our paid subscribers, ESN Report is not only alive but thriving. Today, we reach over 4000,000 people every month, and this is just the beginning!
Our mission is simple yet vital: to provide fact-based, apolitical reporting on the realities of life in the emergency services, NHS, armed forces and security services. We strive to give an unfiltered, honest look at the challenges, triumphs, and struggles faced by those who serve on the front lines, stories that are too often ignored, distorted, or silenced elsewhere.
Our coverage is grounded in firsthand experience and fueled by a deep respect for the professions we’ve dedicated our lives to. We’re here to tell the stories that matter, to fight back against misinformation, and to amplify the voices of those who deserve to be heard.
Most senior management teams in the emergency services seem unable or unwilling to tell the public what is actually going happening on the front line of the emergency services. But that is leaving our former colleagues without a voice that they can trust.
With your support, we can continue to shine a light on the truth, advocate for those on the front lines - both past and present - and push back against the narratives that so often do them a disservice. Thank you for standing with us.
