Another Arrest Made in Ongoing Investigation into Attempted Murder of Police Officer
PC Christopher Miller remains in a critical condition as police continue to make arrests in connection with the Stoke Poges incident
Thames Valley Police have made a further arrest as part of the investigation into the attempted murder of a police officer in Stoke Poges.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He has since been released on police bail until 15 August.
The investigation relates to the serious incident on the night of Thursday 22 May, when PC Christopher Miller was critically injured after being struck by a car while on duty on the B416 Bells Hill. The vehicle involved did not stop, and PC Miller remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
The investigation has already led to multiple arrests.
Simranjit Kajla, 28, of Lydford Avenue, has been charged with attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and using a vehicle without insurance. He appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 27 May and has been remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Reading Crown Court on 23 June.
A 38-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until 23 August.
A 43-year-old man, previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation.
A 37-year-old woman, arrested on similar charges, has been released on police bail until 25 August.
The case has sparked widespread public concern, particularly in light of Kajla’s extensive criminal history. He was sentenced to five and a half years in prison in 2022 after being convicted of drug supply and driving while disqualified. Having been let out of prison early, he has now been charged with serious offences again — including driving while disqualified for the second time.
Police continue to appeal for information and footage from anyone who was in the area of Bells Hill, Stoke Poges, between 8 pm on 22 May and 1 am the following morning. Officers are particularly keen to trace any dash cam or doorbell footage that may assist the investigation.
